After 15 hours of travel, we are in Japan…dazed, a bit confused, yet happy.

Since we prefer to start our trip in Osaka, we have to take 2 flights. In the photo below, the woman on the right is pushing me in the wheelchair to another area of Narita for the flight to Itami. I am so grateful for this service. The distances are quite far and I know I would have trouble getting there on my own.

“Welcome to Japan”. It would be very difficult to make the connection to our 2nd flight without the help of this woman. First you must retrieve your luggage and trikes, then go through security (which is a huge gymnasium size area full of passengers lined up), then walk to the domestic area, deliver the luggage to JAL and walk some distance to the gate. It seems like miles.

There are several passengers requiring assistance. We are wheeled onto this bus which has a hydraulic lift and then we are transported to the plane.

At the plane, the workers are getting the bus to the right height to give us level access to the plane.

Finally, the door of the plane is open so that we can now board the plane.

Excited that we have our trikes and panniers. We are so ready to be finished so that we can crawl in to bed and sleep. We have been flying for about 14 hours, it is now about 5 in the morning Vancouver time. It is surreal to be so tired.
