Villa O Higgins 4

It was as well I chose to sleep in the hostel, because looking out this morning, it was chucking it down. It was a vile cold wet day; raining with little let up until five-ish in the afternoon.

What better way to counter rainy day blues than through activity and it was thanks to Phoebe for suggesting we, the eight of us in the hostel, cook  a big communal  lunch with everybody contributing  a specific part. I chose the easiest; cooking the rice. The least effort for the most gain. The meal ended up Indian themed with Marc making a tasty lentil dal. There was salad, nam bread. Miguel made torte for starters. And for afters, there was apple crumble with freshly made custard and  carmel pudding. Lots of wine was consumed and it felt like Christmas.

Most didn't have any appetite for dinner later, when we all were messaged from the boat travel company saying the sailing is definitely on in the morning, but at the extremely early time of 04.30.

Sean KaneIt was delightful. The whole meal and the company was great.
I am across the mountains now in the rain shadow of the Andes and it feels warm in the sunshine.
