Australia’s weather extremes are also becoming more extreme. Across the southern half of the continent, we’ve just had record heat waves, followed by destructive wild fires in Victoria. Melbourne hit 44°C!
In the north, vast floods are moving across inland Queensland. So vast it looks like a new inland sea from space. The inland area is sparsely populated, but tens of thousands of cattle have perished. Even those wild pioneer riders would find it difficult out there for the next few months.
Fortunately our region has received a weather reprieve. It’s now cool enough to do things (like ride) outside during the day. And smoke from the Victorian fires is giving us fiery sunsets.
