What kind of battery does your body mimic?

Steve Miller/Grampies

Old style carbon batteries, like what you used to have in your flashlight, run until they gradually wear down. The light may get dimmer and dimmer, but there is always something. By contrast, newer lithium batteries run strongly until suddenly they don't. What's more, if run to zero they can be damaged.

When I am cycling, I may get more and more tired, but I generally can find some reserve to tap. But with Dodie, she will run until she stops. And once exhausted, there is no reserve. Sometimes she can make it to a hotel, but really lack the strength to climb the stairs.

Is this a boy vs girl thing? How does it work for you, or for you two if a couple?

I"m definitely the Energizer Bunny. I last and last, but I don't go fast!

When cycling, I might have to take breaks, but I can keep going a long time.

Do you suppose it's a fueling thing? Does Dodie snack during the day?

Steve that’s an interesting question? I’m more of a plodder. Slow riding, slow energy drain. So more like an old style tractor battery.

I have never been much of a "snacker", not when riding, not when just at home. Steve seems to want a steady input of small nibbles, all day long. Maybe I should up my snacking when riding? It just doesn't feel like I need anything until I experience a total collapse, and then it is too late. Dodie
