On the ferry and then riding into Osaka

We had a great night's sleep aboard the ship. On the weekend the ferry gets into Osaka port an hour later than during the week. This gave us an extra hour to sleep and then tour the ship a little more. We have travelled on many overnight ferries in Japan and the Sunflower ferry line is probably one of the best.

Having a window in our cabin has been great. There was lots to see as we got closer to Osaka

The cabin came with two beds and a sofa.

We met this fellow from Australia. He had been cycling in Japan for the last three months

Our first convenience store after our ferry ride. Unfortunately, this was the location where we believe that Mary Ellen lost her prescription glasses.

We rode through a residential area where people were drying their clothes in the street

We rode through a number of beautiful parks on the way into Osaka. This park had free entertainment

It was strange to see hundreds of pigeons perched in a couple of trees

We stopped at a very busy park where we had visited before

It was Sunday and the park was very busy with families enjoying the nice weather

Every few minutes the water fountain would start up and kids would come running

This elderly gentleman was showing Mary Ellen his book of names of foreigners that he had met at the park. We gave him our business card and he was overcome with emotion.

Covered pedestrian shopping streets are found all through Osaka

Excellent single malt scotch is very cheap in Japan.

We love riding through back streets in Osaka. It is interesting to see how and where people live in big cities in Japan

Osaka is definitely a bike friendly city. 80% of bicycles in Japan are mama chariots. These bikes often carry a father or mother, a baby and two young children

We have seen this crazy bike being ridden in this area before

Just as we were getting to our hotel we ran into the fellow that we had met on the ferry
