Shibushi Bay Daikoku Resort Hotel

Wow! What a difference a day can make. As predicted,  yesterday was a day with unrelenting heavy rain and dark skies. We were comfy in our room with a huge window giving us a great view of the developing storm and the restless sea. It was quite dramatic and beautiful. This morning, we awoke to brilliant blue skies, sunshine and no rain.  The lush tropical surroundings and  aquamarine colours in the  ocean were a joy to see.

The view from our room the next morning, after the storm. The square cement structure below houses the hotel’s Onsens for men and women. As they are built at sea level, you get an unobstructed view of the sea with complete privacy while sitting in the Onsen pool.

Our room has been a haven for us the past few nights. Love the floor to ceiling windows with an expansive view. We spent much of yesterday on this sofa watching the storm and the view, reading and working on the journal.

This hotel is a sponsor and provides home base for the Lions, a pro baseball team. When they are in training, they stay here. L’s Library is a place where guests can go for free coffee.

The Hotel proudly exhibits memorabilia, photos of the team and their mascot.

The Lion’s won the pennant in 2008….a proud moment for the staff at the Prince Hotel and the community.

This is such a typical scene in Japan. Homes and apartments always have racks outdoors on their balconies for drying laundry. As well, duvets and bedding are clamped onto the railing to air them out every day.

Love the presence of Palm Trees alongside the road as we ride by.

Liked this rocky feature with evidence of being reshaped over time by nature and the forces of the sea.

Walking in the lobby of our hotel is like being in an art gallery with art and historic pieces on display.
