Dormy Inn is a hotel chain in Japan that offers so much more than a comfy place to sleep. First of all, they offer an incredible Onsen with hot spring water that has minerals which are therapeutic, free ramen at 9:30 every night plus free ice cream and popsicles (evening) and probiotic milk (morning) at the Onsen. All hotels in Japan offer lounging clothing, such as Yakuta robes or tops and bottoms that can be worn in the hotel. At the Dormy we feel like we are in a very happy cult as we see our fellow guests attired in the same thing chowing down some ramen.
Thumbs up for the Dormy 👍 as they gave us a safe covered place for our trikes.
We have enjoyed Miyazaki and could have spent more time here. Miyazaki hosts many international golf tournaments at the world class courses we saw when we arrived..Before we head out, we are going to visit the Miyazaki Prefecture Museum of Nature and History and a Shrine of historical importance. We have a short ride today of 30 km to Aoshima, so we will have time to sightsee before hitting the road.
We have reached the Museum which is set in a beautiful location. It shares the area which is the size of a city block with the Shrine. It is a forested park with paved trails throughout.
After we parked our trikes, the two men came over to chat with Barry. They are from China. It is such a small world as one of the fellows moved to Richmond, B.C. for a few years where he met his Canadian wife. When he saw that we were from Saltspring Island, he said that he had been there and visited one of the wineries. The other fellow worked in Peterboro, Ontario at one of the car manufacturering plants. This is close to where Mary Ellen grew up.
You can count on most businesses and attractions to have a mascot. These happy mascots represent the Museum. The museum was outstanding and it was free !
There was a special exhibition about Shochu. It is a popular distilled alcoholic beverage made in areas of Kyushu. Potatoes, barley or oats are used the production.
