A ferry ride to Beppu on Kyushu

We usually avoid Super Hotels in Japan as a place to stay as we find the rooms too small. The rooms are 13 sq m and when your partner is 6’2 this is a problem. Nonetheless, they offer good value. At this hotel, they offered free beverages in the evening, breakfast is included and the price is right.

Our trikes shared a parking spot with a motorcycle. It is good that they provide a dedicated space for us.

We have arrived at the ferry terminal..900 m from our hotel.

The hills above Yawatahama are covered in mandarin orange groves. What a sight.

The time we have spent in this area is so memorable. One of the things we love here are the mandarins, fresh from the tree.

Our trikes are given a safe place to park at the front of the ship. We like it…first on, first off.

We do love Kyushu, it is great to be back. On a previous trip we rode up to Mt Aso, an active volcano. Very impressive.

Sunflower ferry line is very good. We will sail back to Osaka on an overnight Sunflower ferry.

This area in the hills of Beppu is called Hell due to the steam everywhere that wafts up from the hot springs. This is a restaurant that uses this steam to cook meals.

Steam everywhere. We are staying in”Hell” for the next 3 days. It is a special place.
