It is bittersweet to leave a place where you have experienced genuine hospitality and made to feel at home. Admittedly, the Terminal Hotel is an older property yet it has a great location, the room is comfortable and people genuinely enjoy it here.
We are heading out today to begin our ride south along the coast. Ultimately we are going to Yawatahama to take the ferry to Beppu, but tonight we are planning to camp at the Futami Seabreeze Park, a free campground that is part of a bigger development including a lodge etc.

Sometimes we have the most success with hotels when we find an older place. In this case the room was old, but comfortable, the location was good and the staff were outstanding.
Karen PoretYou are very fortunate to find these great lodging accommodations ! But, the Japanese culture and it’s people are so endearing to everyone. Reply to this comment 2 months ago

Hallowe’en is coming. It is always interesting how holidays that we have at home are interpreted by the Japanese. These occasions are embraced with lots of decorations, special baked items and enthusiasm, but it is different.
This eye catching monument was installed July 26, 1995 to mark 50 years post WW2. The monument is for peace and human rights and it was designed by the Art Department of the local high school. Next year, it will be moved to Mstsuyama’s Peace Park.
Karen PoretIs he sitting under the canopy waiting to fall over? That is funny..You are correct, Barry about interpretations, and misconceptions… Reply to this comment 2 months ago
We were on our way out of Matsuyama and we saw this huge group approaching from the bridge. Not sure what they were doing, but it got our curiosity. A protest or marking a special day?
This floral tribute marks the opening of a new soba restaurant. We see these often. We have often seen floral tributes like this outside a newly opened business.
Karen PoretThese noodle businesses are going out of the stratosphere here in CA. They are SO popular and people wait hours to get a bowl! Reply to this comment 2 months ago
Barry BartlettTo Karen PoretWow. It is super popular here as well. I guess the mass number of noodle and ramen places make it more accessible. Reply to this comment 2 months ago
Karen PoretTo Barry BartlettHowever, you ARE in the country where it began and is made right! Fresh! Enjoy it! For proof of my comment, google San Francisco Chronicle food page about ramen and noodle shops.. 🍜 Reply to this comment 2 months ago
The riding has been lovely along the coast. Just before the camping area, we stopped at a Michi to get provisions as the campground is positioned up a steep hill with a great view of the ocean. Unfortunately, while at the Michi, it started to rain and with a vengeance. of course, everything got quite wet.
The view is lovely as we climb up the hill….however the rain has returned and it is a deluge.
We have reached the campground and the rain continues. We are pleased to see the wooden structure which is a kitchen. Perhaps we could set up our tent in the shelter.
We decided to see if the lodge, which is part of this park, would let us rent one of the 2 cabins at the campground. The rain is clearly here to stay and the temperature has dropped. Fingers crossed.🤞
