Finding Accomodation is a challenge…
…A trifecta of weeklong holidays in Taiwan, China, Korea and Japan, Expo in Osaka and a National Sports Day in Japan
We feel a bit discombobulated due to the short period of time (about 3 weeks) we have had to put our bills, our home, packing and life together before leaving. We are excited and ready to go, but when we tried to book accommodation, we realized that we have a problem. We discovered that many places were solidly booked and those that were available, the prices were grossly inflated. Little did we know, that we will be arriving at a time when there is a national Sports Day holiday in Japan , as well as holidays in China, Korea and Taiwan when we arrive. As usual, we will stay at the airport hotel in Itami (near Osaka) as we arrive in the evening and will need to assemble our trikes the next morning. However, we had to give up on staying in Osaka for a few days as our go-to accommodation, Hotel The Lutheran, as well as most hotels were unavailable or unaffordable due to it being the final week of the World Expo in Osaka . So, we will ride to Kobe instead and spend time in Osaka at the end of the trip.

We have travelled in Japan frequently and have never experienced such difficulty in planning. We thought that booking our flights at short notice was the challenge but we quickly discovered that accomodation was the bigger issue. After many hours of research, we were able to secure places to stay the first week in Kobe and Takamatsu. Whew!
