Gob Gregores rest-day

After a good night, sleeping in to after 07, I look out midmorning toward the road and see the tall trees standing lifelessly still, meaning no wind. I was anxious to see how long it would last as there was no way I could continued today after yesterday's long hours in the saddle with low food intake. The Kona was feeling tired too, in need of TLC. I google Windy.com and see tomorrow and heading into the weekend is favourable cycling weather.

A rest day isn't really a day resting. I spent the morning journaling, washing out yesterday's sweaty cloths, bike maintenance and then at noon, I was ready to ride the 2 kms into town.

Tractor used to pull wagons and farm impliments. Imported from London in 1917 by a pioneer whose descendants still live in the area.

Originally called Can̈adon Leon it began as a blacksmiths shop established in 1921 by an Austrian imigrant, fixing carts and the like, located at the midway point on the Chico river between the coast and the foothills of the Andes. In the early 1970s the town was renamed Gobernador Gregores for Juan Manuel Gregores, governor of Santa Cruz provence 1932 to 1945. In another life Gregores was in the navy having sailed many voyages all over the world and studied radio communication; which as governor he introduced to the provence's police stations and to remote sheep farms. He also established an air ambulance flying a weekly service to distant towns. He built hosiptals and established a road service to build the provence's roads as well as many other things.

According to the sign the next town Perito Moreno is 354 kms, so I'm preparing for upto 4 days on the road. Thankfully there's an La Anomina supermarket, so I can buy lots of easy to prepare things.
