Day 12-13: Limbo - Grampies Repositioning Ride: Leipzig to Valencia Fall 2025 - CycleBlaze

Day 12-13: Limbo

I waited for the "Rapid Stroke Assessment" unit to finish their well earned Labour Day vacation, and called first thing this morning. They said "Yup, you're on our list, and we'll call you, no doubt in a few weeks". They seemed to have no sense that this was inadequate, and totally at odds with their objectives, as explained on their web site.

There seems to be nothing further we can do. I will go back to whatever activities I think I can handle. Some, like riding my bike, driving the car, using power tools, moving furniture, etc. could be dangerous to myself or others. But seemingly my society does not care to render any help or advice on this. I find it infuriating. But I guess I can just add that to the world news and other problems of life in 2025.

Meanwhile, the symptoms that brought us back from Germany have lessened quite a bit. Maybe, maybe, we will be back on the bikes in Germany - in the Spring?

Stay tuned for a few more health updates - like the opinion of my GP, or what he may read on the report of that latest CAT scan. There is a system here, called My eHealth, through which the patient can also see the test results. But they are embargoed for two weeks, presumably to give the high speed health professionals first crack at them.- It will be later this week before the GP might read the results for me.

We had also planned a special page  in the blog on September 17 - watch for that!

Karen PoretThank you for the update, Grampies! “Your Public” wants to be kept informed, but not at the expense of your health..( pun not intended)
It is SO infuriating that the medical system is just that..a system, despite the fact it is made up of human beings who you would think “get it” from the perspective of the patient’s welfare.

Annette SchneiderTwo years ago my 58 y.o. (at the time) son-in-law experienced a stroke which netted him a helicopter ride from one hospital emergency room to another hospital where he could be treated and where he spent the next 2 weeks recovering enough to return home. He lives near Salt Lake City. I'm sorry to learn that doctors/hospitals in your area treat the situation so cavalierly. Hang in there!!

Jeff Arnim"But they are embargoed for two weeks, presumably to give the high speed health professionals first crack at them."

I laughed out loud.

I'm glad you're able to find the humor in all of this!

Steve Miller/GrampiesTo Jeff ArnimLast night I hacked into my imaging reports. Their lame systems remind me of the ill fated "ArriveCan".

Steve Miller/GrampiesTo Annette SchneiderThanks Annette. I am getting stronger day by day, but still need the stroke people to wake up and take steps to head of any repeat.
