yeah, but we try to keep them out of our mouths - 1982: Stories of the Young and Dumb, aka My First Bike Trip - CycleBlaze

yeah, but we try to keep them out of our mouths

The next morning we bought some donuts for breakfast at the store. After a couple of bites, Jerry noticed a bug in his donut. He pointed it out to the proprietor, a fat man wearing a white short-sleeved shirt which already had sweat stains in the armpits.  I secretly doubted the stains were from physical labor, nor that he had put on a fresh shirt this morning. Or this week.

The owner responded with, “Where you boys from?”

“Waco,” Jerry answered.

“Donchew have bugs in Waco?”

Jerry, who typically has a sharp tongue and a sardonic quip at the ready, just stood there. Finally, he said, “Yeah, but we try to keep them out of our mouths.”

Larry FrahmLooks like another error of youth. No hands on handlebars, no helmet on head and rolling downhill.
