On the front page (table of contents) of the journal with the journal in Edit mode, there is a Change Order option.  If you select it, a handle appears to the right of all items in the menu.  You can slide them one at a time to the desired position and then select Save Changes when you're done.

Thanks for taking the time to explain that to a novice.. I had managed to work it out for myself as well .. but your input reassures me that friendly help is freely available. My next task is to learn how to get a photo into a journal update.  so exploring that now

oh, good.  I hoped there would be photos.  It's pretty intuitive but let me know if you need help.

Dodie got me out of my easy chair to address the reordering question, but I see that both you and Scott have that under control. Scott can also be a tremendous resource about photos. But since I am sitting here, I will get the ball rolling by noting that things depend on what you are using for a camera and what your "computer" is.  If you have a camera of a sort that records its images on an SD card, that's one thing, while if you are shooting with a smartphone, it's  little different. And then if your computer is a Windows laptop or desktop, that's one thing, while an Android or Apple phone or tablet is another. Let us know what your set up is, and I expect the whole team will pile on with how to do it. In this, Scott will have most expertise with smartphones and Apple tablets, while perhaps I can claim to be the Windows guy.

I see that Steve has contributed significantly

I would be using a iPhone and if doing this at home a windows laptop, but assuming that I am aiming for a regular evening update on the trip .. can it be done direct from the iPhone which would be my preferred choice, or have I got to carry a windows iPad with mr.

If not direct from the iPhone , and I don’t carry my iPad at all, then photos can only be edited in when home. So fingers crossed that direct from iPhone is possible

I'm pretty certain that you can upload your photos from a smart phone, but you'll have to get help from someone else on that -  I do everything through the iPad, including text, photos and maps.  The cramped real estate on a phone drives me nuts.

My mini tablet (8.9") sits in the same spot every day so I can get it quickly enough for photos. On the plane it is in my carry-on and I never leave it behind anywhere. With that tablet not only can I take decent photos but in the evening I can easily upload them here on CB.
