Cath rode across Germany in a week, to get to Weeze, the site of the Parookaville music festival.

Stephen flew from Tromso to Amsterdam. Rode for 1.5 days from Amsterdam to meet Cath in Weeze. Stephen was too fast getting to Weeze – there was still another day of the music festival, so we both ended up going for the Sunday. Even with earplugs in for the whole day, it was too loud for Stephen. Kids and the music they listen to these days… Yes, he realises what this means.

We stayed for several days (ended up being almost a week) with a WarmShowers host who lived close to the festival site. And hates the disruption the festival brings (5km away from the event site, the bass is still quite loud, and there are so many people who displace the farm’s customers). Since we’d stayed a few days, we thought we should repay some of the hospitality by doing some work around the farm. And Simone and her children were lovely and at least appeared to appreciate the help. We mowed lawns, trimmed hedges, collected eggs, pulled out blackberry bushes, etc for a couple of days. It sounds like a break from cycling, which it was, but it wasn’t particularly restful!
