Istanbul

After a long flight from Toronto I am now in the Istanbul airport for 10 hours before my 11 hour flight to Cape Town.  Istanbul is a massive city of 15M people so I decided it was best to stay put rather than risk getting lost.  The airport is beautiful but was a bit surreal on arrival.  We seemed to taxi forever and once at the terminal there was a half marathon walk down some wide but uninteresting corridors.  It was such a contrast from the blast to your senses once I cleared into the international area.  All the high end stores are here with lots of bright lights.  The only other airport that I have been in that is this ostentatious was Dubai.   I found the business lounge that is quite spectacular with multiple food options and lovely showers.

The menu for dinner.

One of many chefs working in the lounge. She is making a type of Turkish bread with cheese inside.
