More Cape Town

A full day in Cape Town included using the Hop on Hop off bus to get farther afield from the main city with a couple of stops.  It also included a harbour boat cruise.  Finally tonight we had some real African cuisine and from here I will let the photos tell the story.  It was a very full day.

Table mountain was shrouded in cloud almost all day so there was no point in going up there, maybe tomorrow

We went to the Kirstenbosch Gardens which was one of the stops on the blue route. This is a 65 year old bonzi trimmed tree.

Not sure what the flower is, rather I was interested in the bird sucking out the nectar.

Once we left the gardens we carried on the blue route. On the backside of this mountain is one of many of the townships that still exist where predominantly black South Africans still live. Things have improved since apartheid but there is still a long way to go.

We got off the bus at seal point and walk the seaside promenade to Green Point. Along the way we saw this sculpture in many parts.

However if you look the sculpture from a specific location here is what you get.

The building that look like a silo actually was a silo at one point but now it is an art gallery.

The clock tower as we return to our dock. It was once the location for the harbour master but with the expansion of the harbour and a new breakwater there is a new tower at the entrance to the harbour.

Robert and I both had the same thing, the African platter. From right to left it was ostrich, kudu and springbok with a traditional corn and bean side dish. Peppercorn sauce for the meat.
