Eersterivier - The eighteenth step ... Heading home from the Kalahari - CycleBlaze

November 27, 2025

Eersterivier

One of those rather miserable days that happen every now and then on most cycle tours.  But in the end it ended better than it might have.

We delayed our departure from our very comfortable digs until the last possible second but we still rode into a fresh headwind with constant rain for the whole ride.

The saving grace was, on our arrival at the farmstall where we had arranged to camp tonight,  the proprietor arranged accommodation for us at a B&B close by because she couldn't bear the thought of us  camping in the dreadful weather.   The B&B seems to have no internet presence which is why we were unaware of its existence.  It is ridiculously overpriced when compared to what it offers but is still far better than sleeping in the rain and packing up a wet tent in the morning.

Tomorrow should be our penultimate day on the road  - another slog into a predicted headwind to Jeffrey's Bay.
