The Plan
If you have read our previous journals you might have noticed that Leigh really enjoys ancient cultures. Our original plan for this year was to head back to Türkiye with Göbekli Tepe being the main target. Because of the weather we would only start that trip in about May which meant almost six months between cycle tours so when Leigh suggested that we take a short non-cycling trip to Egypt at the end of February I demanded that we extend the trip to include Morocco with the Moroccan section being a cycling tour.
So now the broad plan is to fly into Cairo, spend twelve days doing all the stuff from Giza down to Luxor and possibly Aswan and Abu-Simbel with our bicycles in the care of our hotel in Cairo. Then we fly to Morocco and cycle a circular route through the country from Casablanca. As usual, we have no firm ideas yet as to what the route might look like but over the next month or so we will work something out.
