Coeur d'Alane to Harrison Idaho

Elevation gain: 2,431 feet

Today we dropped from Coeur d’Alene down to Harrison, so that we could jump onto the trail of the Coeur d’Alenes the next day. We started the day heading south on the Centennial trail along Lake Coeur d’Alene. The trail eventually ended at an apparent dead end, but there was a weird little gravel shortcut that popped us out onto a road. The rest of the day was a nice ride, mostly on highway 97, until we reached Harrison.

Today there were several moose sightings, but all were bronze statues.

First moose sighting. Unfortunately, did not appear to be alive

Believe it or not, google maps sent us this way, which was good, because it saved a few miles, avoided some climbing, and allowed us to ride the Centennial trail to it's end.

Sample of the road for much of the day

Lunch. This nice picnic area was behind a gas station with a deli which conveniently popped up right about lunch time.
